David Negrin
David Negrin is a screenwriter, producer, and professor of film and television at Hofstra University. He is Executive Director of the NYC Screenwriters Collective, the largest non-profit screenwriting workshop in New York City. He is also Host of 'The Script' Podcast and moderator of @ScriptFeed. He grew up in New York City and is an alumnus of The Bronx High School of Science.
Jordan Rosengarten
Jordan Rosengarten is a screenwriter, editor and producer who studied film and television at NYU Tisch. Jordan is co-producer of “The Script” Podcast where he lends his audio engineering skills as well being David’s co-host on many episodes of the show.
Alec Pollak
Alec Pollak is a screenwriter, producer and director living in Brooklyn. He was Chief Creative officer at the web video production and development company For Your Imagination where he co-created the web series “Kyle Piccolo: Comic Shop Therapist” and produced on a number of other series. He co-authored “Vita’s Garden”, a Doorpost Festival finalist and the semi-historical comedy short “The Duel” and produced several short films for the eco-fashion brand Bhoomki including “Love Or…” and “Coat Tales.” He currently has several projects in various states of development.
Christopher Theokas
Christopher Theokas is a founding member and instructor of the NYCSC. Recently, he wrote and co-produced the feature film, Carl(a), starring Laverne Cox ("Orange is the New Black), and Mark Margolis ("Breaking Bad," Noah), which won Best Story at the 2013 Long Island International Film Expo, the Award of Excellence at the Canada International Film Festival. Currently, Mr. Theokas is working on the web series, "The Adventures of Half Life".
Chris Durham
Chris Durham prefers to think of himself as a "screenwright," a person who creates things for the screen, because it strikes the right balance between accuracy and pretension. A writer first and foremost, he is also a capable cinematographer, photographer, editor, director, powerlifter, and whiskey connoisseur. Chris prefers science in his science fiction, acting in his action, and film in his film making. A resident of Los Angeles, Chris is active in our sister group, the L.A. Script Writers Collective, and remains involved in the NYC Screenwriters Collective as a producer and frequent co-host of our podcasts.
Denise Papas Meechan
Denise Papas Meechan is a TV Producer turned Screenwriter. She Co-Produced the Feature film “Five Days Gone”, which was an Official Selection in the Nantucket and Brooklyn Film Festivals. In 2011, her screenplay “Skin” won the Bronze Award at the Hollywood Screenplay Contest. Denise has developed and produced fashion and entertainment-focused television shows like “Fashion Police”, “Full Frontal Fashion” and “Behind the Label” for the Style Network, E! and Ultra HD) as well as headed the Emmy-Award winning cult hit show “Subway Q&A” hosted by Rich Collier.
Jeremy Engdahl-Johnson
Jeremy Engdahl-Johnson is a west coast transplant with an eye for story. His journalism has appeared in High Country News, The Health Care Blog, and Seattle Weekly, and his fiction has appeared in Spitball and Writers Billboard. He’s published two novels. He turned his attention to screenwriting upon moving to New York in 2009, with a particular focus on the absurdity of the modern workplace in the digital age. Kara Buller
...is a comic, has appeared on last comic standing, and she writes for Bust magazine. Kara Buller started stand-up in Chicago in 2003. She now lives in New York, New York. She's been on Last Comic Standing, written up in Vanity Fair ("very angry, very funny"), Chicago Reader, and TimeOut Chicago and co-hosted The David Angelo Show. She writes for BUST magazine. She's been called "very funny" by Jim Gaffigan, Cory Kahaney and Eddie Brill, David Letterman's chief talent booker.
Keith Miller
Keith is an independent comic book writer by night; middle school English Language Arts teacher by day. When he’s not being abused by his students or helping sweet old ladies crossing the street, he can be found taking story notes or... reading. Keith is the co-founder of RatRonin Studios, LLC, a graphic storytelling concept studio and co-creator of the marginally popular, Triboro Tales. Like every aspiring commercial writer he has written a few screenplays, one of which, Love’s No Fool, placed in the quarterfinalist Fade In Screenwriter’s award. He is currently writing his first novel to be published by Rosarium Publishing.
Kristina Leath-Malin
Kristina Leath-Malinis a “Production Chick” by trade and website. As a filmmaker, producer, published writer, blogger and Brooklyn/New York dweller, her passion for horror extends to many media outlets, including her published bookObjectification Repackaged: The Women of 21st Century French Horror. She is a very active New York-based horror feminist scholar, and her upcoming documentary "My Final Girl: The Black Women of Horror from Race Films to 1970s Blaxploitation Horror Cinema" traces two of the most notable periods in American film history with horror based elements which focus on African American female participation.
Melissa Pagnotta
Melissa is an aspiring comedy writer, performer, and producer. She has worked with with various TV networks and independent comedic films. She has experience writing comedic shorts and stand up comedy, and was a staff writer on her university's sketch comedy show. She graduated from Hofstra University with a major in TV Writing and Producing.
Alka Khushalani
Alka Khushalani was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She has worked in media, at the Walt Disney Company, HBO and public television, among others. Alka is a graduate of Columbia University in Film Studies. Her short fiction has appeared in The Kartika Review, CHA: An Asian Literary Journal, and EGO Magazine. Her screenplay, THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE, was part of the IFP Project Forum. Alka is an IFP Film Bazaar Lab Fellow (sponsored by the National Film Development Corporation of India).
Marc Masciandaro
An incurable cinephile with a fondness for all things dark and twisted, Marc has penned three feature-length screenplays and written and directed five cutting-edge short films. His psychological thriller, IMPOSTOR, garnered Best Short Film awards at the Coney Island Film Festival and the Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival, as well as Best Screenplay at the Real to Reel International Film Festival. A freelance editor and Directors Guild member, Marc has art directed for ABC News Nightline, script supervised on commercial shoots for VH1 and Discovery Channel, and served as a screenwriting consultant for ESRA Film School of New York.
Mickey O'Hagan
Mickey O'Hagan is a New York City based actress currently starring in the film Tangerine which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and won Best Independent Film at the 2015 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Her previous on camera work includes the film Starlet and the MTV series "Warren the Ape." Mickey has lent her voice to hundreds of TV and radio spots as well as providing voice overs for the Investigative Discovery Channel. When she's not acting Mickey is putting the finishing touches on her latest screenplay which has its roots in classic horror.
